What is loud, dusty, and pretty darn redneck?
The answer: A Demolition Derby!
Greg and I attended our first Demolition Derby at the Prowers County Fair in Lamar two weeks ago. It was so much fun that we decided to attend the Rocky Ford Fair this past Friday to watch their Demolition Derby as well! I will admit: this is a pretty redneck sport. Which means I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I officially love demolition derby's!

So not what I expected you to say. I'm glad you had a good time. I think the noise would send me over the edge.
Naw, you'd love it!
Let's go to that sometime, please, honey?
;- )
Now explain the foreigner a little more about that "sport". What exactely is it?
OH B It's not as loud as I'm making it sound! It's completely bearable!
Nora, a demolition derby is basically cars in a "track" type area that crash into each other. I think that each race lasts 15 minutes, unless there is only 1 car running before it reaches that point. The last cars running are the winners. Usually there are several sets of cars that compete and the last derby of the night are the winners from all the other derby's! Hope that helps!
Okay, so how come nobody gets hurt? And wouldn't it be the goal, to drive away from everybody for 15 minutes, and have them crash into each other, and in the end, I am the winner? I guess that's not how it works, is it? ;-)
