My plan to cheat the system didn't work. We received our official letter from AT&T last week stating that they are cancelling our service since we've been roaming for three months. According to the letter we can still keep our numbers if we change networks by a certain date. Hopefully that will be the case. Another couple that recently got dropped by AT&T since they have been here in Lamar was not able to keep their numbers. They went with a smaller wireless network so I'm hoping that is why. Only time will tell. Until then I get the joyous activity of shopping wireless networks. And since we're here in Lovely Lamar, the only ones here are Verizon and Viero (the smaller network I was referring too). More than likely we will be going with Verizon. The small glimmer of hope is that they are about to merge with Alltel, who have that pick your circle plan, where we can call a select amount of people from different networks. That would be fine with me. The downfall is that neither network has rollover minutes. Scary!!! The upside is: we're going to be getting new phones!!!! I'm still thinking BlackBerry, but time will tell.
In the meantime, I'm going to be chatting away with my accumulated seven thousand plus roll over minutes since AT&T is dropping us anyway.

Well, that stinks!
If it's any consolation, I have Verizon and have been really happy with the service.
Ahh man! That totally stinks! We use US Cellular...and it's pretty good...but it's not one of your options. :( You better get to chattin'...you've got a ton of minutes to use up! :)
What are roll-over minutes? Sounds as if I would like it... :-) Let me know what new phone you get!
Well, it's good to know that someone is satisfied with Verizon! My brother uses them as well. Nora, I guess you don't have roll over minutes in Germany? That means minutes I don't use one month, just roll over to the next. They last for up to a year. So I've never had to pay extra for using too many minutes!
Well, Jose had to get an Alltel phone when he was in southern Texas because we had NO T-Mobile service at all. So we are in two contracts right now. But it is a good thing because here where we are staying we don't have T-Mobile service, only in town. So I don't think Alltel/Verizon seems like a bad company. Make sure to use all your minutes!!!!
Do you have the urge to call some number and just stay connected all night to eat up your minutes- ideally, while roaming? You might find some satisfaction with that. I'm throwing in my two cents for the iPhone... it came in handy a million times while on vacation. But I know the Blackberries do a lot of the same stuff.
lol! I haven't really thought about it like that Brad! But I do need to make some catch up phone calls now that I really don't care that I'm roaming! And.....it looks like we may have issues keeping our OK numbers, which really stinks!
We have verizon and have been happy with the coverage. In fact at our karate camp this weekend verizon people were the only ones with service. Also, I still recommend the blackberry. I am able to get your blog updates on it and post my own blog updates. It's great.
Thanks Kath! It does comfort me to know that Verizon is the second largest wireless provider! But, I think we're going to pass on the BlackBerry just b/c it will cost so much more monthly and for the phone. We were only wanting one so on the road we could look up mapquest, but the phone we are looking at has a nav system on it! Sweet!
